The Rhodes College Board of Trustees has formed a discernment committee tasked with recommending whether the name of Palmer Hall should be changed. The formation of this committee is the next step in a continuing process focused on contested building names. This discernment process will be educational in nature and guided by scholarly inquiry. Thus there will be events planned for the Rhodes community this year that will help raise our awareness about the issues involved in this process. The board adopted a set of principles related to contested names in the spring of 2018. The Palmer Hall Discernment Committee will meet throughout the 2018-19 school year. Community feedback can be submitted to the committee through this form.
